ABOUT

YMATRS Platform invites young mathematicians—from undergraduates to early-career faculty— studying in the mathematical sciences from around the world, to design and run their own research symposium. The platform seeks to ensure equal access for young mathematicians—helping them overcome barriers to resources and networks and supporting them in reaching their full potential.

Research symposia may be discipline-specific or multidisciplinary and can include short or long talks, a few hours of mini lectures, discussions on open problems, poster sessions, hands-on activities, professional development talks, social activities, and more. All decisions regarding the structure and activities of the symposia are made by the applicant organizers.

Symposia will be held online. However, there will be an opportunity for one selected symposium to meet in-person at a host university. Supporters of the YMATRS Platform will cover accommodation and catering expenses for a select number of participants during the in-person event. The host institution will be announced at a later date.

YMATRS Platform Scientific Committee will provide:

  • formal consent for symposia proposals
  • abstract review for accepted symposia

YMATRS Platform Coordinators will provide:

  • assessment and guidance on symposia design
  • promotion via the YMATRS Platform networks
  • guidance on receiving application for symposia (if required)
  • advice and guidance on video conferencing (if required)
  • access to the host university campus in Ankara for the selected in-person symposium
